Your body will let you know that too much liqueur is not healthy for your body. Salt is another substance that is not good for us and as a result of eating too much of it you can become extremely thirsty. However, you may find that many types of foods that are not good for us health wise can be found to be very delicious. Sometimes there are foods that are simply too good to give up like spicy hot links and a cold beer at the pub, or greasy cheesy pizza and a hot dog at the ball game. At the time that you consume these foods it may seem that everything is all right and then our bodies will begin to talk to us with a rumble from down under and let us know that this type of food is not what your body likes you to consume in large amounts.
The type of punishment that it has in mind is known as heartburn and it can be brutal. Heartburn is known as a severe burning sensation that is caused by digestive acid being forced up into our throat. Heartburn can also cause a burning sensation in the upper area of the chest as well. Heartburn however is normal and is a natural function of our body and its digestive system. By exercising a little common sense, heartburn can be controlled by choosing what you eat carefully.
Antacid tablets from your local drug store can be used to control slightly problematic heartburn. However, acid reflux disease comes into play when something doesn’t add up and we are experiencing heartburn more than we should and for no apparent reason. When acid is forced up out of our stomach it is not good for us and can lead up to all different types of health related issues. If you notice that you are having to take antacid tablets and are experiencing heart burn everyday, then the chances that you are suffering from acid reflux disease are very high.
You may find that there is of course some good news, because acid reflux disease is treatable and can be diagnosed early. The Bernstein Test is the test that is commonly used to diagnose acid reflux disease. During the actual procedure acid is introduced into your stomach through a tube and in return your body’s reactions to it are observed in a laboratory setting. Hydrochloric acid is the type of acid that our stomachs and digestive system uses and it is a very strong acid.
Hydrochloric acid when in a concentrated form is so strong that it can dissolve a penny in a matter of minutes. That is why when you are suffering from acid reflux disease it shouldn’t be taken lightly because there is some powerful chemistry going on in our stomachs. Acid reflux disease can affect anyone at any age, and is commonly found in children. The Bernstein Test as mentioned earlier can be administered to anyone at any age.
There has been a lot of ground gained in the area of treatment for the acid reflux disease due to the fact that it has been the focus of research for many years. As a result, many new drugs have been found to be very effective in treating acid reflux disease. Now people that have had to suffer in the past can now be treated and can live normal pain free lives. If you have noticed that heartburn is becoming annoying for you and that you find yourself indulging in over the counter remedies it is time that you talk to your physician about the acid reflux disease.
