Heart disease is a term that reflects upon a broad scope of ailments and that affects the heart and the job it has to do as well. All heart diseases are very serious however some are more serious than others. Some heart diseases are also more treatable than others. The following information contains some of the most common heart diseases however this is not all of them.
Coronary heart disease is a disease of the heart and is caused by a build up of plaque that builds up within the walls that supply the heart with the blood that it needs to survive. The heart also needs to have a blood supply to it, just as any other organ does or any muscle in the body and if the hearts blood supply is cut off at any part of it the result will be a heart attack. A heart attack is when part of the heart dies based on the lack of blood flow to it.
Ischemic heart disease is also another disease of the heart and is brought on by reduced blood supply to the heart. Your heart can never take a rest, unlike other muscles in your body, it works even while you are asleep in your bed at night. So basically I guess you understand why any interference with its blood supply is a serious threat to your life. Cardiovascular disease is also a term that describes a number of diseases that affect the blood vessel system since it pertains to your heart.
When you have a disease of the blood vessels it is hard for it not to affect your heart also due to the fact that the main blood vessels of your body run right through your heart. Due to the fact that your heart is interconnected with your blood vessel system, almost any problem that affects the system will have some negative affect on your heart. There are some exceptions based upon the fact this is not a blanket rule.
Cor pulmonale is known as a failure of the right side of the heart. Hereditary heart disease is any type of heart disease that you inherit through your families genes. Due to that fact this can be any one of the number of types of disorders of the heart muscle. Inflammatory heart disease is a result of the heart getting bigger than it should be, this may sound like it isn’t a problem but in real life it can be life threatening.
Your heart is limit on the amount of space that it has to work in. When your heart becomes inflamed or grows larger than it normally should be it is not able to perform its job like it usually is and should do. This particular condition can also affect the tissue that is surrounding the heart.
Experiments involving a radical operation have been done and involve removing a section of the heart and then stitching it back together in order to reduce its size, however research is ongoing and the operation is still not approved for people that live in the United States. It has on the other hand been successful in other countries that have participated in it.
Valvular heart disease affects the valves of the heart. In order for the heart to pump blood effectively the values must open and close properly. Heart values that have been damaged or are malfunctioning allow blood to leak by them and if they are not opening properly there is not enough blood passing through them. When you consider pumps, your heart is as complex as you can get. So you need to remember to always take care of it because unlike other organs in your body you only have one heart.
